Being in Ireland, you would think the most exciting thing for us this week is St. Patrick's Day....
but it's not!!
This week is like Christmas for the horse racing fans since today is day one of The Cheltenham Race Festival!!
I am not saying that everyone is into racing here, but there are 5 bookmakers on the 2 block Main St. where I live so I feel I can be quite assuming here!
So as all the visitors flood Ireland to get a taste of the green beer here...
(which they don't do here by the way.. or dye anything green for that matter!)
a lot of the Irish are on planes, boats, swimming (lol) their way over to the UK for Cheltenham!!
The bookies (who always win... btw...) are taking in cash by the handfulls... a lot from people who don't bet for the rest of the year!! This could have something to do with their success!!
I, who I wouldn't consider the gambling kind, have my horses picked out and can't wait to sit and watch the excitement that is Cheltenham with all our friends and family today and for the rest of the week!!!!
Fingers crossed that
Hold on Julio
are in top form today and ready to run the races of their lives!!!
Oh, and don't run off to Paddy Powers now and place bets on these... I wouldn't have the best winning record!!
I'll leave you with a good old Irish-ism....
I hear them weekly out of the mouths of my friends...
a friend was talking about her hubby that came back from a Stag weekend in Glasgow and said:
"He's about as useful as a chocotate tea pot!"
